Nonverbal Communication

Gestures bridge the Gap

Traveling to another country where they don't speak or use the same nonverbal messages is an extremely difficult thing to do. That is what the first American soldiers found out when they were deported to Iraq. They had a hard time talking and making connections with the locals living there. After much thought and consideration the American Association for the Advancement of Science came up with a course to for soldiers that enables them to use video games to help them learn how to use appropriate gestures once in Iraq. This has helped greatly to link the gap between the two different cultures. As it was said by Hannes Vilhjalmsson, "Many of the conflicts in the world today could be avoided if people could communicate better", is a wise statement to live by. I believe if more people would communicate better the world would be easier to get along in.
